I have been using Sonicare brushes for decades. The cheapest Sonicare will give you as good dental health if you follow instructions as the most expensive model with WiFi and a bunch of other useless crap. And I mean useless.
I bought a pair of the top of the line ones with all the bells and whistles a couple of years ago from a big Costco sale (half price, still $125 for two), downloaded and installed the app, and on day two the app alerted me that it was time to change the brush. On day two of using it. I deleted the app and also ignore the weird "change your brush" noises it makes and the LED it flashes on the handle. I can look at the brush and see when I need to change it.
Next time, I will buy the lowest possible cost one. Like this one.

4100 has a pressure sensor. This one does not.

Looks like reg price is only around $30, but still a solid deal. Walmart has matched it for the moment too. Thanks OP.

I purchased the Sonicare Optimal Clean 2-pack from Costco for $70 (still unopened). There are extra features, but I am not sure any I care about. I never use the extra settings on my current Sonicare and I can generally tell if I'm pressing too hard without the alert. Sonicare makes some claim about this being 10X better vs 3X better on the 2100. I think the brush head is different. Costco comes with 2 carrying cases. My last Sonicare lasted several years, so I'm not sure how much saving a couple of $/year is worth it on the off chance it does clean marginally better.

I have an older pair of diamond and a bunch of 4100 that are dying. I purchased the optimal from Costco and the intensity is the same as the diamond which is much more intense than the 4100. I would think the 2100, aside from not having the pressure sensor is probably a lower intensity brush. They may be the same number of strokes per second but the intensity is greater on the higher end models. I would stick with the optimal for a few $ more over the next 5 to 7 years of use

Wouldn't the more intensity be bad for gums receding.

4100 is usually around $30 or a little less during holiday season. Yes I realize thats a good bit away but is a good data point.

Yes, and right now it's $40 on Amazon which is about $10 off. I got a white one a year and a half ago for $30 from best buy in December on a deal of the day type thing.

A couple of days ago, I dropped my Philips Sonicare in the sink, which I purchased here four years ago. The motor gave out. Perfect timing, bought one. Thank you, OP.

There is very little difference on how well each model cleans your teeth. The motors and 31k strokes per minute are identical between each Sonicare. The higher end models have additional features that can help improve your brushing habits. They also tend to have more premium feel (nicer materials). Stick with functionality, it's not like a flashy car that you can show off to your friends.
